I love vintage and thrift shopping, it’s no secret! You might not know why I am so enthusiastic about pre-loved fashion, however! Let me break it down for you really quickly!
- It’s good for the planet because it produces less waste and gives new life to clothing that would otherwise be discarded!
- The pieces you can find are so unique and chances are no one else in your circle will have them.
- Vintage garments are (often) of better quality than most fast-fashion items on the market today.
- You can score amazing deals, like Danier leather pants (pictured here) in perfect condition for $10. Need I say more?
- Vintage boutiques and thrift stores are often privately-owned. By shopping there you are supporting a small business owner. That’s a great feeling.
To inspire you to shop in the pre-loved section and get your creative juices flowing here is a head to ankle (shoes are new) look featuring a vintage coat, fur collar, Prada handbag, leather pants, sunglasses, a thrifted hat and a handmade sweater by my mother. The latter is older than me and fits perfectly!
Final note, you should never throw away clothes in the garbage. Instead, make a conscious effort to either donate your gently used pieces or contact your city to find out the best way to discard of your old clothing if it cannot be useful to someone else.
