Hello beautiful ones! I hope you are having a great day! If not, this post is sure to make it better! The Body Shop launched an important campaign in partnership with Cruelty Free International to raise awareness against animal testing in cosmetics. The campaign is called Forever Against Animal Testing and you can be a part of it. The goal? To ban animal testing in the cosmetics industry worldwide!
Cruelty-Free International has been the leading organization advocating for the eradication of animal testing worldwide for over 100 years. It is also the organization responsible for the Leaping Bunny Certification you’ve probably seen on some of the beauty products you use. They’ve been inspiring generations of decision-makers and show no signs of stopping.
THE CONSCIOUS: Going global
For as long as I can remember, The Body Shop has been synonymous with ethical living in beauty. In fact, they were the first major global cosmetics brand to campaign against animal testing in the 1980’s. Fast forward to 2017, 80% of countries around the world still have no laws against animal testing in cosmetics.
Can you believe it?
Although the United Kingdom led the way back in the 1990’s by declaring a UK-wide ban on animal testing in cosmetic products & ingredients the rest of the world has been slow in following suit. The European Union finally came around in the 2000’s with a EU-wide ban on animal testing in cosmetic products and ingredients but we still have a long way to go.
THE CHIC: Go big or go home
If you believe, as I do, that animals should not be used for testing cosmetics, get involved! The first thing you can do is participate in The Body Shop X Cruelty Free International social media campaign. All you have to do is post a picture of yourself doing the “bunny ears” gesture and tag #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting #TheBodyShop @TheBodyShop & @CrueltyFreeIntl.

Secondly, never underestimate the power of a one-on-one conversation. Be as vocal offline as you are online, by talking to your loved ones about the issue and encouraging them to take action. Lastly, sign the petition, stay up to date with the progress of the campaign and look out for other calls-to-action on the Cruelty-Free International website.
