They say: “A Sunday well spent brings a week of content!” What a thought! I’ve been writing blogs for a while now, preparing,  researching, startegizing and cluttering an already over committed life which in the end left me feeling depleted.  That was until I realized how eventful my life already was, and how much content I could draw from simply living my best conscious & chic life.

A couple weekends ago, I had the pleasure of discovering Margot’s Patisserie. A cute little French bakery on the upper west side. Granted, eating warm, sweet and comforting cakes, cookies, and coconut macaroons is not necessarily healthy living but on a cheat day it is exactly what the doctor prescribed.

The quaint cafe was cozy and not overly crowded. Soft music was playing in the background, creating a serene environment. A few seasoned ladies were enjoying a quiet afternoon reading and savoring on a warm drink. One of them even told me that writing a blog post about the bakery was a great idea but that a part of her hoped the hidden gem wouldn’t become too popular as a result! Bless her heart.

The cafe staff was very kind and accommodating. The barista, whose name I didn’t catch, didn’t seem frazzled by our special requests.

Now let’s talk about the sweets! There were so many to choose from: mini tartlets, French macarons, gluten-free cookies, mini eclairs, etc. We settled on madeleines, coconut croissant and a latte. The madeleines were tasty, moist and firm on the edge. It was my first time eating a madeleine and it won’t be the last. The coconut croissant? Best I ever had. It was crispy on the outside and flaky to perfection. I can still taste it now. The inside of the croissant was moist and bursting with flavor. The coconut sweetness was the perfect tickle for my tastebuds. Heaven! And did I mention that their ingredients are locally sourced?

We really enjoyed our experience at Margot’s Patisserie and plan on returning there soon as they also serve brunch, lunch and wine.
