Imagine a life without water to take a shower, wash your hair, cook or even drink. Now, imagine a room full of women and men drinking champagne and shopping Buberry’s latest collection: furry bags, colorful satchels, monogram scarves and cosmetics to only name a few. The connection? The VOSS Foundation‘s Sixth Annual Women Helping Women New York Luncheon and African Bazaar.
On September 30th, I had the pleasure of attending Buberry’s Cocktail Party Celebrating the VOSS Foundation upcoming November 5th luncheon in New York. The cocktail party took place at the Burberry store in Soho, NY. A night of shopping, mingling but most of all empowerment with a percentage of the proceeds from the night of shopping going to the VOSS Foundation’s Good Future and Hope Foundation project.
“For Burberry, working with the VOSS Foundation is a great alignment of beliefs, women empowering women and girls in another country.” – Deborah, Deborah Hughes, PR
ABOUT VOSS FOUNDATION
The VOSS Foundation is an independent 501(c)3 affiliated with VOSS Water, founded in 2008 by the former director of VOSS Water. The brand behind the foundation known for its iconic bottle and luxurious flair is their largest donor. Since 2009, VOSS Foundation through its Women Helping Women Initiative has raised over $650,000 in Europe and the United States. They’ve funded 21 water access points and 291 sanitation facilities in Kenya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Liberia and Swaziland.
Every year, the VOSS Foundation supports a specific organization through the Women Helping Women Luncheon. This year, they are working with Good Future and Hope Foundation. An organization based in Uganda that provides accommodation, education, healthcare and a wonderful environment to street children.
“Uganda remains one of the poorest nations in the world, with nearly a fourth of its population living beneath the poverty line. Water and sanitation are of primary concern for development. According to the Joint Monitoring Program’s 2015 report, 21% of the total population and 24% of the rural population still lack access to an improved water supply while 33% and 26%, respectively, remain without access to an improved sanitation facility.” – VOSS Foundation
The partnership between the VOSS Foundation and the Good Future and Hope Foundation started in 2014. See the projects they’ve supported thus far.
4 REASONS TO ATTEND THE LUNCHEON
- CAUSE: Improve the lives of African women and their communities by providing access to clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; and to celebrate global female empowerment. 100% of the funds raised at the luncheon will go towards the Good Future and Hope Foundation project until it is fully funded.
- VENUE: Stephan Weiss Studio – Urban Zen in New York is a wonderful venue.
- SHOPPING: The luncheon is coupled with an African Bazaar featuring handmade, artisanal goods sourced from the countries where the VOSS Foundation works and has water projects curated by New York tastemakers and trendsetters within the fashion industry. With the holidays being right around the corner, the timing could not be more perfect.
- PEOPLE: A room full of phenomenal, engaging men and women. A fun group of people to spend an afternoon with in November!
This is what the conscious & chic lifestyle is all about, making purchases that make a difference in the world whether they are charitable, fair-trade, handmade, made locally, etc.
Wherever you are in the world, I encourage you to support water projects because it is a basic human right that none of us could live without. And if you are in New York, come to the luncheon.
