The Caitlin Power woman is strong, young, professional and commends attention a lot like Caitlin Power, the designer. This Calgary born designer has a clear understanding of who she is as an artist and a woman. “My aesthetic is very classic yet edgy, with a lot of youthful details.” said Power during our one-on-one backstage interview. [See backstage photos]Â

That is exactly what we saw in her Toronto Fashion Week Fall 2013 Collection. Power’s collection included: asymmetrical hem dresses, skirts, skinny pants and structured tops with contrasting inserts. The collection was also rich in texture and color: leather, patent leather, brocade and sheer. “I started with the burgundy, and I guess it really started off with that pattern (the printed geometric pictured above) and I just fell in love with that color, and went on from there… Then I wanted to bring in another color: teal.” said Power.
I personally loved her use of soft gold leather, it added depth to the pieces.
All in all, Power’s collection was strong and rough around the edges just like we like it!
Her must-have for spring? Leather Shorts!
