It’s official my belles, Target is opening in French Canada today and is bringing you all the goods including their collaborative lines like the recent 3.1 Phillip Lim For Target collection. Last night, Target Canada hosted a fabulous launch event for its Quebec stores called “Salut Québec” which is french for “Hey Quebec”. What a cute and apropos tagline! The night was for food, fashion and celebration. The event was presided by Mitsou Gelinas, one of Quebec’s shinning stars and the ambassador for Target in Quebec. She worked the red carpet doing interviews with some of Quebec’s elite who came to see the new Target store and shop, of course! DJ Abeille, Mélissa Nepton, Celine Dion’s mother which we all call “Maman Dion”, Nikki Yanofsky, and Genevieve Borne were in attendance.
The event was held in the Côte Vertu location and guess who came all the way from the U.S. to take part in the fête? Coco Rocha. You must remember the Target Style x Coco Rocha styling video series from last year and her insane cover photoshoot jumping skills! Well, the partnership between the 2 mega brands is still going strong.  Being Canadian herself, Rocha wanted to take part in this grand opening. “I’m proud that Canada has taken on Target… Congratulations Canada! Ya finally did it. We’re on our way!!!” said Rocha during our one on one interview. [Stay tuned for the full interview]
A lot of thought went into this event. “The launch took 2 years to prepare.” said Sebastien Bouchard, PR Director for Target Canada. I must say that all their hard work paid off. Set on 2 floors, the entire Target was transformed to feel like an open market, with food and drink stations all over the store. They served everything from poutine, salmon bagels, pizza and even filet mignon.  If that wasn’t enough, they also had servers roaming the aisles with delicious hors-d’oeuvres and drinks for the patrons to indulge in. And indulge, we did. Target also marked its arrival by making a generous $100K donation to Celine Dion’s mother’s charity, the Maman Dion Foundation, which provides back-to-school supplies, glasses and clothing to children in need all over Quebec .
To no-one’s surprise, the 3.1 Phillip Lim collection sold out in mere minutes but I thankfully managed to get my hands on a chic black tote and a cute  little sweater! I do plan to get more items once more locations open.
The Côte Vertu location along with a few others officially opened today and many more will be opening later this fall. So check Target.ca regularly to know when YOUR STORE will be ready for business.
Target coming to Quebec is a big deal and I hope you take full advantage of your new “one stop shop”!
