Last night, Lupita Nyong’o won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 12 Years a Slave which also won the Oscar for Best Picture. The Kenya native accepted her award with a heartfelt acceptance speech: “No matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid.” said the Yale graduate. Nyong’o was competing against many of Hollywood’s biggest movie stars but the she prevailed. Fellow nominee, Jennifer Lawrence tried to steal her golden statue jokingly, of course.
Over the past few months, Nyong’o proved to be a true style icon wearing outstanding look after outstanding look. Last night was no exception. The natural hair beauty walked the red carpet in a beautiful baby blue gown she designed with Prada.
