Summer is finally here to stay it seems and with that comes the long-awaited vacation season! I love to travel and over the years I have perfected the art of traveling light. Regardless of where I am headed I always manage to avoid checking in luggage! That’s right, I only travel with a carry on and one personal item. But I wasn’t always such a savvy packer. Like most girly girls I indulged my inner fashionista and over packed for years! But one day, I decided to stop the madness and admitted to myself that I really didn’t need all the junk I was traveling with: books, magazines, makeup, hair products, toiletries more clothes than I could possibly wear and last but not least shoes, shoes and more shoes.

Here is one of the tricks I’ve been using to downsize my makeup collection when traveling: the Z-Palette!

Z PALETTE

The Z-palette has been around for a while but I found out about it a little late in the game… but that’s alright. Here is what I like about it:

Qualities:

– Z-palettes come in different sizes and depths so you can purchase the ones that best suit your makeup needs. I personally like the deeper ones because I can fit my eyeshadows, blushes and powders in one palette and voila.

– They come in different colors and patterns like pink, zebra, leopard and cherry blossoms so you can get creative with your collection!

– The clear cover makes it easy to see what’s inside the palette without having to open it. Now that’s convenient!

– They can hold different size pans so you can mix and match products and update your palette to suit the needs of your trip. If you are going on a beach vacation you’ll want to bring your bronzers, bright blushes and neutral eyeshadows but if you are headed to Paris Fashion Week you may want to bring your contour kit, highlighting powder, plum blushes and dark eyeshadows.

– The magnets are really sturdy and prevent your makeup from moving around.

Once you are done depotting your shadows, blushes, powders, lipsticks, etc don’t forget to recycle your empty makeup containers. If you use MAC Cosmetics they will give you a free lipstick or eyeshadow of your choice for every 6 containers you return to their stores!
